Looking for a luxury holiday cottage on the Ring of Kerry?
...then you have come to the right place!
First things first its worth pointing out that I am a little biased when it comes to this cottage as I helped to restore it back to its former glory. If you have not read the full renovation story click here.
At first glance the Valley of the Hare gives very little away. You could be forgiven for thinking that this cottage is one of many traditional and humble farm cottages that were once scattered throughout County Kerry.
Even during the 3 mile drive up to the cottage from the colourful picture postcard village of Sneem, with its lovely cafes and excellent pubs, it is hard to imagine where the gently winding road could possibly lead.
But here lies the beauty of the Valley of the Hare, where the short journey up through some of Ireland's most iconic countryside is very much part of the overall experience.

It is not until the last minute of the gently winding drive that you can get an idea as to the stunning location of the Ring of Kerry cottage which stands at the head of this magnificent valley.
The commanding views across Kenmare Bay and the surrounding countryside are very special.
Upon entering the house it quickly becomes apparent that this is not the traditional old farmhouse that first impressions had led you to believe it was.
Under floor heating gently warms the entire ground floor of the house which has been cleverly extended to incorporate the beautiful stone outbuildings which would once have made up part of the farm.
Take a quick exterior tour of the house by clicking here
or on either of the images below.
At the centre of the house is a fully equipped cottage kitchen and dining room with all the features that you would expect from a large country farmhouse. These include:
Despite the recent works that have been done to this house the solid oak worktops, simple free standing furniture and natural slate floors help it to retain its original country cottage charm.
On its southern face the house extends out to connect the original cottage to the former out buildings. The linking structure houses a large contemporary living room with a high vaulted ceiling and a four metre wide sliding door which looks out across magnificent views and catches sunshine throughout the day.
On long winter evenings after brisk daytime walks it is almost impossible to drag yourself off the cosy leather sofa and away from the soothing warmth and gentle crackle of the wood burning stove.
In this Ring of Kerry cottage there is of course a widescreen TV which is connected to Sky, as well as a good selection of DVDs, books and board games.
And if you cannot afford to drag yourself away from work during your stay don’t worry as the whole house is covered by wireless broadband internet and the contemporary extension houses a tranquil study.
- "In case you want to get side tracked this room also has great views!" -

The back of the house is devoted to two very spacious double bedroom suites which are both extremely private and have excellent views up the mountain.
Each has its own luxury en suite bathroom which I hope means that there will be fewer arguments over who gets the master bedroom suite on the first floor.
The beds in these two ground floor bedrooms are luxury king-size. They are also zip link beds meaning they can be split to form two luxury singles. This increases the flexibility of sleeping arrangements that this cottage can cater for.
Up to the first floor... which is entirely devoted to the master bedroom and it's adjoining bathroom. Like the living room this bedroom enjoys incredible views of the valley below and out as far as the Beara Peninsula on the other side of Kenmare Bay.
All the bathroom fixtures throughout the house are extremely high quality and each bathroom is well stocked with Molton Brown products...
- "It's these little touches that add up to make for a very memorable holiday experience." -
In this setting a peaceful nights sleeps is pretty much guaranteed so you are likely to wake up feeling recharged and ready to go.
With the Ring of Kerry on your doorstep there is more than enough to keep the most energetic family or group occupied.
